Ray Boyer is a Partner in Mercedes Advisors, a family investment and consulting firm, providing investment and consulting services including ethics and compliance, startup operations and scale, project management, financial/cost accounting, purchasing, inventory control, investor relations, human resources, insurance, safety, and strategic planning, as well as Board of Director governance advice.
Ray is also the CEO of Missouri Leasing & Consulting, a successful leasing and management company including capital equipment leases, management services and investment portfolio oversight. Additionally, Ray is a partner with Rooted Management Services, which provides advisory and operational management services of agriculture and consumer packaged goods.
Ray was Chief Financial Officer and a Board Member of SDC Nutrition, Inc., a manufacturer and brand sales company of protein powders and pills, with a successful exit in February 2024. Ray also was co-founder of PurePenn and Organic Remedies Missouri, who both had successful exits in 2020 and 2023, respectively.
Ray was Chief Financial Officer, Vice President, Corporate Controller, and Treasurer of Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc., building nuclear reactor components for submarines and aircraft carriers, for more than 38 years. Ray’s experience includes finance, accounting, procurement, human resources, project management, business systems/processes, real estate and facilities, government affairs, and management and leadership of a multi-billion-dollar company. Ray is experienced and knowledgeable in all aspects of Government acquisition and affairs, finance, accounting, administration, facilities, real estate, ethics, compliance and customer relations.
Ray attended Penn State University, Robert Morris College and received a Masters of Business Administration from Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh with a concentration in finance and cost accounting. Ray serves or has served on various for-profit and not-for-profit boards, and served as a Board Member for Xavier University Williams School of Business, Saint Vincent College Leadership Council for the McKenna School of Business, and the Katz Graduate School of Business management simulation game, and is on the board of several privately held companies. Ray and his wife Annette have a son, Cody, who is a partner in Mercedes Advisors, and reside in Fox Chapel, PA.
Matt Borders is an entrepreneur and small business owner that starting his cannabis career around constructing cultivation facilities in the late 2000’s. His passion for cultivation and manufacturing of premium products lead to rapid growth, culminating in the design - build and commissioning of a 120,000sq ft cultivation facility in the Pennsylvania medical cannabis market. Since then, Matt has led design - build, commissioning, and day to day operations of several operations across the country including Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, and Missouri. Matt is an experienced leader guided by a strong sense of morals and principals. Over the past 10 years Matt has built and led an expert team across all facets of manufacturing, including HR, Finance, Cultivation, Processing, Compliance, Procurement, Logistics, Engineering and Facility Management. His passion for excellence has driven his core competencies around Facility and Process Design, Production Planning, KPI implementation and tracking, cGMP, Lean Manufacturing, Cannabis Cultivation and Manufacturing.
Cody Boyer is an experienced Executive with a demonstrated history of working in the cannabis, manufacturing, financial, and law industries. Cody has an impressive track record with his work in the cannabis industry where he has started up and sustained successful operations in multiple states, PA, OH, IL, MI, and MO, He has extensive knowledge in large scale cannabis cultivation, cannabis extraction, cannabis production, as well as distribution of cannabis products both wholesale and retail. Cody also has extensive M&A experience overseeing the sale of cannabis companies in PA and MO, as well as assisting in the purchase of companies and assets. Other skills include analytical strategies, customer and investor relations, compliance, financial statements, and problem solving. Seasoned finance professional with a Bachelor's degree focused in Finance from Xavier University.
In his free time Cody enjoys listening to music and finding new artists, cooking, golfing, exploring other cities and spending time with family and friends.
Gabe Perlow is an executive, attorney, entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist. Along with his partners, he founded Rooted Management Services to provide the highest quality service, management and expertise to the cannabis industry and governing bodies implementing or regulating state run cannabis programs covering medicinal and adult use cannabis. With broad experience in the start-up and operations of cannabis businesses, from drafting applications, securing licenses, standing up new operations, retrofitting existing facilities, and complete operational turn-arounds; to compliance, marketing, sales, branding, government and community affairs, and in-depth understanding of the complex financial systems and structures required to operate in an industry under immense scrutiny as well as varying and often contradicting state and federal laws, Mr. Perlow provides his clients with optimal services to attain competitive advantages in the cannabis industry. From 2016 to 2022, Mr. Perlow founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of PurePenn, LLC, a medical marijuana Grower/Processor licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health under PA Act 16. Prior to PurePenn, Mr. Perlow served as Chief Legal Officer for MXY Holdings, LLC, the parent company of the Moxie brand of marijuana products and Pure CA, LLC the first licensed cannabis volatile extraction company in the State of California and LA County. Mr. Perlow was responsible for overseeing the license application for PurePenn and Pure CA, as well as managing the ground up construction of over 120,000 square feet of cultivation and processing space and successful implementation of operations from seed to sale for both companies. In June of 2018, Mr. Perlow was named to Marijuana Venture Magazine’s 40 under 40 (https:// www.marijuanaventure.com/gabe-perlow/). In 2020 Mr. Perlow founded Organic Remedies MO, Inc. (“ORMO”). Together with his team he developed, financed, and operated ORMO’s 75,000 square foot cultivation and processing facility and three dispensaries in the State of Missouri. Additionally, he devised and brought to market both the Mo Dank and Eden’s Trees brands of cannabis products that have been offered to customers in Missouri and Ohio. In 2023, on the eve of recreational marijuana sales in Missouri, ORMO was successfully rolled into CODES cannabis, which is now the largest operator of cannabis cultivation, processing, and dispensaries in Missouri.
In December 2022, Mr. Perlow was appointed to the Economic Development Transition Team by Pennsylvania Governor Elect Josh Shapiro for the his gubernatorial Administration in Pennsylvania. Prior to founding PurePenn, Mr. Perlow served as a Principal and General Counsel for McKnight Realty Partners, a Pittsburgh based real estate development firm. At McKnight, Mr. Perlow participated in the company’s day-to-day operations, legal and financial departments; having assisted the company in raising over $200 million for new development and acquisitions. Mr. Perlow is an Alumni of the University of Pittsburgh, and received his Juris Doctorate at the Duquesne University School of Law.
